Jetting?
« on: November 02, 2012, 07:21:01 pm »
I have a stock 89 with a mikuni carb.  I just put a dg pipe(I know pointless but it was 50 bucks) and vforce delta reeds(the first series).  I cleaned the carb and put a 380 jet in it in place the the prior 350.  I never checked the set up with the 350 in it.  It ran crisp before I put all that stuff on.  Now it bogs when I try to hammer throttle.  It stays bogged all the way with wot.  I'm sure I need a smaller main but I just wanna make sure.  Also this is with pump gas because its all I had.  When I do 50/50 race/pump, what is the rule of thumb?  Do I jet up or leave it?  How many jets do people go up when you do reeds and pipe?  Was I too ambitious with the 380?

Slowly lean it back for your combo, 370, 360, etc. Till it runs out clean, Record the air temp add a jet size for every -10 or subtract one for everything 10+ from the baseline. Should get you in the ball park
If brains were gasoline, you couldn't power a **** ant's go-cart 2 laps around a cheerio.
