Hmm interesting. I can only stand by what I experienced... Just like Stpltn250r has his experience.

Yes, there are quite a few that switched to the BF AEM filter with great results.

When mine was having issues, I was running the 4x8" dual layer Uni w/the 6-2xl needle. This is a big ass filter. I wish I had a flow bench, so I could check the flow differences between the foam 4x8, foam 4x6, and the gauze 4x8 and 4x6 filters.

Anyway, hope you figure out your issue and enjoy that beast!

Unless the float valve is diffrent but I know I wind my like atleast 100-150ft everypass and never felt my bike fall flat from running outta fuel.

Mine had the issue while out duning, 3rd gear variable throttle. Find a big bowl, start coming down the dune approaching the bowl, shift into 4th mid throttle, hit the bottom of the bowl, and hit W.O. Let the engine / speed spin up and shift into 5th, again W.O. and after a few more seconds it would fall on its face, so I would let off the throttle, start coasting for a few seconds and then could get into half throttle again in 5th or downshift into 4th about half throttle again.

I could not experience it when drag racing up Olds or China Wall as those pulls were too short.

Let me see if I can dig up a helmet cam video when this happened.

Hate to post a million times but make sure your flat on needle is facing the right way heard of ppl having bike run terrible and that was problem.

I thought most of you were running a 6-2xl needle in your 44hv's on a zilla. I have 1 that ran great on a HRD, I have never ran it, but it's a 6-2xl. He said he has a 5-2xl? fuel starvation?

If you hit the right rpm, you can stop fuel flow with any carb. Lectron is one that does it offten. Hang weight off the bell mouth of the carb and isolate it from motor vib best you can. I use wheel weights

anythings worth trying .....so you think it could be the cdi box?

it came with the bike when i bought it but it seems to work fine i have lights and good spark the coil and stator are stock and new the flywheel is good still right on the keyway has not moved since installed

You said in an earlier post that it ran good with a different carb, If this is still true it rules out the problem being electrical.

An easy way to diagnose a severe rich condition is to turn off the pet **** after you are up to speed and experiencing the rich condition at wide open throttle. As the fuel in the float bowl is consumed it will eventually lean out and run good for second or two. If it runs good for a second or two as the float bowl runs low, Lean the power jet some more or change to a needle that reduces the fuel flow at full throttle.

right on thanks for the info everyone im going to try a few things looking for a k&n and my uni was 4x8 you would think it would be enough flow through to the carb with out problems and it is a big ass filter im going to give the beast a ride soon as i can i have been so busy working so i dont know when im going to get a chance to run this thing thanks to everyone for there input its something small im sure it can be figured out pretty quick

I'd try a 6-2 for a quick test.

You can also "foam" your fuel at the right rpm. The jetting can be fine but your fuel turns from liquid to foam in the bowl, that feels like a lean issue. Sometime you switch from a Tron to a 44 Mic and it's fixed. But it was the mass of the Mic 44 that fix the vib problem, not jetting. If you can put it on a dyno with fuel flow reading, you can see it jump all over

The fuel foaming was a huge problem on the old Yamaha 570 Exciter snowmobiles back in the day.Vibration/harmonic resonance from the engine caused the fuel to froth.But on those it was when you let off the throttle it went extremely lean.PSI had a special tapered needle that had limited success.A guy came up with weights for the fuel bowl that seemed to cure the problem.I,d be shocked if that was the OP,s problem but I guess anything is possible.I agree with the ones saying to try a different needle.

Just curious is th 6-2xl needle what most guys are running on their 500,s?Think I was running a 7-2xl in mine when I had it but could be wrong.

When I had my Lectron back in 2010, I believe it was the 6-2xl needle, stock fuel bowl. The Lectron did not work good for my extended WO running as the stock fuel needle and seat limited the fuel to the bowl and my setup would run out of fuel. I saw this fact when my quad was on Jerry Hall's dyno.

When I had issues with my Lectron, I pulled the fuel filter and was running the Banshee Pingel petcock.

It was the Lectron fuel seat & needle and I know that for sure.

My experience when I posted before was with alky. Probably should have put that in their. Anyway I'm pretty sure 7-2 to 6-2 is the metering rod that should be used for the Zilla. First number is top end. Larger is richer. Second number is midrange, again bigger the number the richer it is. So a 7-2 is richer then a 5-2. I ran a billet bowl and a 3.5 float needle on a pump with a PE1 or PE7 needle which around a 19-2 (for alky)
