No Idle?
« on: September 23, 2012, 01:27:19 pm »
Hi there
my mikuni 38 dont have idle motor dies without throttle.
I put a 22,5 pilot jet and a 400 main jet in the carb.
1 or max 3 kicks and the engine jump up, and have no idle?

The gas air Screw on the left side is 1/2 screw out is not enough
normally is 1 1/2 out,
but thats not all! The clip of the needle its on the last upper Ring.
and the idle screw is complete in!
What the ....  Is this?
My badest idea is the engine have a water leake?

Did you check the basics on your carburetor, check pilot jet to make sure it not clogged? Did you check float level, check to see if the float valve seat is not worn.

The leak could mean your needle and/or needle seat are worn.

Usually its the o-ring on the float valve that goes bad. Even more so with the crap fuel being sold to us. Not sure what the fuel quality is like on the other side of the pond? but, I would be suspect of the o-ring. I just replaced my float valve due to a leaky o-ring.

Set the idle screw (thumb screw with spring)so that the slide raises to about 2.5 to 3mm.

The more you screw your air/fuel mixture screw in the less air you get thus drowning (riching) your motor.  You need to move the screw out, not in, to lean the mixture.

Make sure your float height is correct and that you needle and seat arent worn.

Ok
i have replaced needle and seat!
Have installed a 360 main and a 1,50 pilot
clip is on the upper notch.
i start the engine with choke today,
At maybe 100 kmh i pull the clutch and off trottle at the same time,
The engine turns up suddently.
Is the same when i try, and try, opens the exhast valve too early?
Or also an air leake?
