I have a slow leak coming from my water pump drain. I'm thinking I just need a seal but wanted to see what you guys think it might be? thanks
Impeller bolt backed off or seal needs replaced
is it from the drain bolt or the weep hole?
its almost impossible for the bolt to back out, it is reverse threads so it should not move.
you either got a bad seal or a worn impeller shaft. but the rubber coated washer can be
bad also. when you take it apart check washer and put a dab of rtv on it and then put it back on.
this might help your leak
Well I have seen it happen a hand full of times. The zilla I just bought had this problem the impeller started chewing up the cover and the bolt was almost all the way backed out. I have seen this on other ATVs and dirtbike as well. Reverse threads help prevent this but it isn't full proof. That is why the manual calls for lock tight.
It must be my seal cause everything else looks spot on! the only other thing i was thinking that could be wrong is the pressure of my radiator could be too high. But i doubt it
You can pressure check your radiator cap but they usually won't hold pressure when they go. Not the other way around. Inspect wp shaft and replace mechanical seal. That is your problem easy fix
Before you spend a dime.... Put a brake banjo washer on the shaft covered in rtv, this will take the play out and it will should seal. This has been discussed before, and they can leak with brand new parts....
Someone mentioned that even before you install your new parts the shaft mating surface with that rubber washer needs to be milled down. Probably so you don't have to use that banjo washer. Mine leaks out the forward upper cover bolt.

False - my bolt came loose and started eating the cover and making a horrible racket.
el diablo is having the same issue, he talked to motor geek that has a fix for him, maybe he can chime in.

Had a few like this, last one, the impeller was spinning on the shaft.
LOCTITE!!!
Dont the impeller and shaft have matching cuts in them to make sure they dont slip?
