Sway Bar Set Up
« on: February 08, 2013, 07:40:34 pm »
Anybody have any advice on sway bar set up. I will be using it for ice racing and have never had one before. Iread somewhere to set it up on flat ground "neutral" loose in the heim joints. And then increase pressure on the the side I need. I believe this would be the throttle side since we are on a counterclockwise circle track. Also I have an 87 chassis and this sway bar came from a 89. The previous owner told me to mount it to the front of the upper A arm mount and use longer bolts (good luck finding them) or all thread rod. Anyone else ever have to use that setup?

I have a Lonestar sway bar that I mounted off the upper shock bolts and attached the links to the lower shock bolts with grade 8 bolts. I started with 1/2" of preload to the outside and adjusted after you see how it rides.

when you say a 1/2" of preload do you mean that the rod on the outside is 1/2" longer than the inside rod?
