Metal-tech Z400 front end measurements help please?
« on: April 08, 2013, 07:45:52 pm »
Can anyone give me some actual measurements on a Zilla if you have it?  Or help figuring it out?

Metal-tech stock length front A-arms (stock length shocks) w/ Z400 spindles and 4+1 wheels
vs.
Stock Zilla (88+) front arms, shocks and 3+2 wheels

Looking for actual front end width of each if anyone is able to help out

47.4 = stock zilla width w/ stock 4+1.5 wheels...so that would mean...
48.4 = stock zilla w/ 3+2 wheels...correct?

and the Z400 hub/spindle add 1 3/4" to total front end width over stock Zilla....assuming that # is done w/ stock 4+1.5 and not 3+2 (or am I wrong here?)... so
about 49.1 = Metal tech stock length arms, z400 spindles/hubs w/ stock Zilla wheel offset (4+1.5)....so
48.1 = Metal tech stock length arms, Z400 spindles/hubs w/ 4+1 wheels

Am I correct here or not?  Basically I'm wanting to get the width of a stock Zilla w/ 3+2 wheels vs. a Metal tech front end w/ 4+1 wheels....
Thanks for reading my long-winded post!

And FYI... my 4+1's I used for these measurements were w/ ITP Baja's.... I have since got a set of Hi-per 4+1's and OMF 4+1 which I have read are more of a "true" or accurate 4+1....

Sweet!!  Thats exactly what i was looking for!  The pics really show what i was after.  This popped in my mind after i remembered how close the inner lip was on my buddies kfx400 with itp baja fronts at 3+2... The 4+1 was not gonna clear the upper ball joint.  Thanks fx4.

No prob!  Yea OMF would not put the inner reinforcing ring on the 4+1 rims I ordered due to clearance issues.  So I got the yellow label rolled lip w/ outer reinforcing ring.  "bones" said that would be my strongest set up

Hi there, do you know if the z400 and the ltz400 spindles/hubs/rotor are the same?
I want to do the swap but I'm not sure if there's any difference.

What I mean is what year of z400 spindles/hubs/rotors are you using? 03-04, 05-08 or 09-14?

@ATACAZILLA

z400 and the ltz400 is the same bike. u know that north americans are pretty concise with their abbreviations. we europeans tend to always write it all out :)))

I installed my z400 hubs / rotors that came off a 2006 make if that helps in any way ;)
