Metal-tech Z400 front end ?????
« on: April 23, 2013, 07:38:22 pm »
Can someone tell me if the year matters for Z400 spindles/hubs for the metal tech a-arms?  were they made for the 03-04 z400's, or the 05+... or does is not matter either way...
Thanks!

I got the metal tech front end and offered it up last night to do some measurements

It binds at 17 inches (eye to eye shock length)

I was advised to run the honda trx400ex shocks which are 16.25 which will be perfect length when I did the mock up

Was going to use some fox floats but before I order them what is the shock eye width?

Do they need to be modified

Help needed before I order them

On the Zilla the upper shock eye width is the same as the bottom eye width iirc. I put trx450r 16.5" eye to eye on my Zilla w/ metal tech a arms & z400 spindles. Had to fab (4) .24" spacers for the upper shock mount.

I thought it was  little less... at least thats what I remember.... I am just over 48.5 wide in the front right now w. ITP baja 4:1's.... I have some OMF 4:1's arriving tomorrow that I heard are more of a TRUE 4+1 than the ITP's.... I also just got some hi-per 4+1 fronts which are supposed to be a TRUE 4+1  that I can take a measurement w/ once I get them mounted up

My front end was one of the origional ones made with z spindles. Not sure if they changed much mine are +3 -1 with 10x4 2 " offset wheels and my front end is same width as a stock zilla with 10x5 wheels
