Does anyone fabricate frame guards or know of another method to prevent boots from rubbing paint off the frame?

GO get some clear chip guard auto tape that's what im using on my new build.

Effex makes some number plate background sheets, boat load of colors thick material

Skateboard grip tape the rubber stuff like on Gordon smith decks not the sandpaper stuff

i made some of these years ago. i think they came out pretty good for doing them all by hand. didn't have a brake at the time.

your 250 looks good shawn, do you have a cover over the rear master cylinder.

john, yes thats a cover over the rear master. used to make them. thats how that 250 used to look when i just finished it, probably 5 years ago, might have been longer. i've had to swap frames and engines since that. but still looks close.

SBLT, I think they look very good. You are going to have to stop showing these custom items you've made in the past. I'm getting more ideas in my head that I need them. Still haven't forgot about the air box. Just waiting on some parts money to come in. How much for the frame guards pic'd? And can you just make a list of everything you've done, will be doing, and want to do so I can shop all in the same place LOL

Very nice! Would you make those again ? What about the master cylinder guard as well?
If you made the frame guards could you add a few cutouts and make them bend around the frame a bit pretty much just like works connections ones?

i could make these agian. i might have a set i made years ago, have to look. i can do the master cylinder guards too. these guards are bent in on both sides aound the frame, just can't tell by the pics.

I wonder how good copper ones would look or maybe some brushed aluminum? I really like the idea of copper for my 86' but I have to remember it will be ridden and the copper would probably be soft, and would have to be cleaned & polished all the time, but it would look fantastic I think.

Instead of using actual copper why not have them powdercoated a copper color American?

Robb glad you posted in here. I would like to get some cf ones from you and aluminum ones from sblt. I definitley would like the master cylinder guard as well from both ya guys.
Robb the 85-86 should be the same as the 87-90 frame guards and master cover cause the frames should be same in those spots. 91-92 is what Im curious about I will compare them tonight.

Good idea on the plating it copper instead. It seems there is some demand for the guards. I'd love to see them offered in the store if it's possible.

i made these years ago. back then nobody seemed to be interested in them. the bottom set is the set off my 85. the others aren't fnished. i'll have to find a better way of attaching them to the frame than what i used. it worked but not as good as they could be.

Just a heads up. I built a mold for the rear master gaurd. I just layed up the first "test" part in it. Once i pop it from the mold i will make the necessary adjustments, then adjust the mold. Ill put a pic up in a couple-3 days once it is out.

Master cyl cover 1987 LT250, not sure if it crosses to the 85-86, or the lt500???

well... since this thread decided to die off since i posted. I thought id spice it up a bit! I Snap cured the first part so i could get it out and into form quick!!!! Ive made all the necessary adjustments. You will need to run an allen head style bolt instead of the shouldered one that is on the bike. I had to slot the holes a bit on this part, but ive nailed down where the location is, so the others will not be slotted. Heres a couple pics under the heating element. (thus the orange hugh)
