brake stay bracket / bolt
« on: July 05, 2018, 12:41:03 pm »
Hi there lads,

did a complete rebuild on my Zilla, the only thing which gives me headaches is the little brake stay bracket on the swinger.

Either the hole of the bracket is f´ed up (grew bigger) or the bolt that goes thru it, is a little eaten up / grinded ?
hence when i hit the rear brake, it clics and clacs on me, since it has a tiny bit of play due to the above described state.

is that a known problem and is there a fix for that ? ah knows that theres a new brake bracket available, but I just dunno if its the bracket or the bolt

any help would be deeply appreciated ...

The rear brake on my hybrid has always moved a tiny bit because of the bracket.  You should be able to see if the bolt is messed up, if that's the issue.  This probably doesn't help much lol.

hmm don’t think that it has been grinded all the way down to be honest. I would have noticed.

what happens if I tighten that mofo bolt all ghe way up would that brake off that tap on the swinger ?!?

just asking :)))

You're talking about the shoulder screw that holds that brake stay bracket to the swingarm?  If so, I'm sure McMaster Carr will have the needed size.  https://www.mcmaster.com/#shoulder-screws/=1dqc8ds

Glad you got the help you wanted!  I don’t own a Zilla yet so I can’t give any advice.  Sorry
