wrong exhaust?
« on: January 24, 2014, 02:52:39 pm »
So the lt250r I bought came with a full fmf setup however the way the silencer is bolted to the rear is crazy there is a socket being used as a spacer and a crazy long bolt any idea why and if this might be the wrong silencer or am I missing something thanks

Might just be me but that header looks out of place and nothing like my 87+ header that I just got for my LT, I havent been able to put it on so one of us has something funky.  :D

It's probably me I bought the quad like this so for all I know the exhaust belongs on another quad o and if you didn't know if you have any rust on your pipe rub it down with wet crinkled aluminum foil and it will dissappear the stuff works magic

Is it so it doesn't hit the sprocket?

What is so it doesn't hit the sprocket how should it be mounted up I assume with out a ghetto socket spacer

I believe that motoman is suggesting that the spacer keeps the silencer from hitting the sprocket if the suspension gets bottomed out. When I got my 86 the mid pipe looked to have melted a hole in the air box, but that was also a FMF slip on a stock header, a spacer like that would of prevented that problem.

Maybe with a spacer thats not a socket, like cut pipe. btw thanks for the tip on the foil, I'll have to try that when I get home.

Your grab bar has it's own spacer on it. That's just a ghetto rigged spacer like you think it is. Also I'm pretty sure that's not the correct silencer. I think that might be a dirt bike silencer. The LT silencers have two mounting hole/brackets

Nice axle/hubs btw

Thanks man I picked this bike up the other day for 600 and I'm just working on bringing it back to its former glory I I may just keep that silencer for now it works fine and I can just use that homemade spacer and have it PC the same color as the frame why not it works great any idea what brand the wheels might be

The front wheels look to be stock rims wrapped in Dunlop's. The rear hubs are either 06+ YFZ450R/X (if 24 spline) or LTR450 (if 26 spline) both are 4/110

Those hubs are from the YFZx the hard to find extended ones. and yes all yamaha hubs are 4x110 except for the OLD banshee ones which are 4x145

if its an 89 its probably a 26 spline axle so likely those are ltr hubs and more so if they have a 4x110 pattern.
yfz raptors banshee have 4x115 rear not 110, that is a honda size
for a couple of years there was a big hub banshee, 4x156, i have a 90 shee sitting in my port with that rear pattern.

My bad, don't slit my throat LOL

I was given wrong information by someone else then. I just know I need 24 spline 4x110 or 4x115 for my hipers so that's why I remembered that
