1986 Frame

From what i have read, complete dry weight of the 85/86 LT250R is 293 lbs. even lighter than 250R 3 wheelers of its era. I currently own a 1989 LT250R that weighs in at 324 lbs. dry weight. Saving 30 lbs would be amazing. I found a roller that Im looking to offer $100-$200 bc it has no plastics and the engine is completely torn down. 

Can someone guide towards some reading for making a hybrid 86' with 89' engine? I know there are topics, I have used the search feature on here with no luck.

You've gotta cut the single down tube out and replace it with an upside down Y down tube and also the 86's ran shorter front shocks so you've got to cut those tabs off and weld in tabs that allow you to run the longer 87+ front shocks. I believe you've also gotta add spacers in the rear for the rear linkage? I think. Something like that. JayTater can clear that up for sure.
I'm not sure of everything. Those are just the things I know off the top of my head
